There are normally 38 – 40 staff members who help care for each boy. We are licensed to take up to 32 boys ages 10 – 18. Our on-campus school is approved by the State of South Dakota as an approved educational provider which concentrates on behavioral problems.

Acceptance is based on records such as academic, court and/or social histories, therapy summaries and health records. Most of the boys have been referred to the Ranch because they suffer from a variety of emotional, behavioral, learning and social adaptation problems.
Sky Ranch For Boys is a non-profit agency and accepts all boys regardless of race, creed, national origin or religion. Prior to admission, all out-of-state boys must go through a process called Interstate Compact, which is an authorization process that allows an agency to bring a child into another state, in this case the state is South Dakota.
The Ranch is located on the beautiful South Dakota Prairie. It is in the extreme northwest corner of South Dakota, about 7 miles south of Camp Crook and 30 miles west of Buffalo. These facilities are located on over 3,000 acres.
