Each boy also participates in an organized daily skill development program developed by the residential counselors. This program is completed both individually and in a group setting.
Examples of skills taught include the following:
• delaying immediate gratification
• setting appropriate boundaries
• anger management
• dealing with failure or rejection
• accepting decisions of authority
• conflict resolution
The goal of this program is to teach the boy more pro-social behaviors and help him to become a positive, contributing member of society.
This program confronts such behaviors as the following:
• acting responsible only if it benefits you
• enjoying anger to intimidate and get your way
• manipulating authority figures against each other to avoid consequences
• not accepting personal responsibility
• exhibiting no consideration for the rights of others
• blaming others or something else when you are caught
There are many more specific skills taught during each boy’s stay at the Ranch. Each topic is decided on by past and on-going problems. Sky Ranch For Boys offers various opportunities for each boy to improve and grow as a person during his stay. |
